The Rev. William H. “Billy” Cole, 74, the beloved husband of Shirley Kelbaugh Cole for 55 years, rested this life Monday July 27, 2009, at home after a long illness.

He was born July 28, 1934, in Newark, Ohio, and was the son of the late Rev. Jewell Colonel Cole and Mary Shirley Cole.

The Rev. W.H. “Billy” Cole was educated in Wood County and ordained into the ministry of the United Pentecostal Church International in Huntington.

He evangelized throughout the world and established churches in Ravenswood and Wheeling and 53 churches in the nation of Thailand, where he baptized 289 Buddhist priests into the Lord Jesus Christ. He also pastored in Spencer, Parkersburg, and Charleston, where he served as pastor for 20 years. The North Charleston Apostolic Church, where he served as bishop, was his home church.

His service to the church has been as youth president of the East Central District, the district secretary of the West Virginia District, member of the National Foreign Missionary Board, executive presbyter of the General Board of the United Pentecostal Church International, and a worldwide evangelist, and saw approximately 1 million converts.
