A Little Leaven

WHAT IS LEAVEN? (6:40)

-Leaven is a living germ or agent (typically yeast) that causes bread or dough to lighten and soften...oftentimes its old fermented dough that has bacteria causing the bread to rise
Exodus 12
-The Lord commands the children of Israel repeatedly to make and eat unleavened bread
-The commandment was swift, for the Lord would perform a quick work and they did not have time to let the bread rise overnight
Psalms 100: 3
-Creation leaving or coming out of this ‘world’ to worship and serve the Creator (Israel being brought out of Egypt)

HOW DID WE GET HERE? DECADENCE AND LEAVEN IN MODERN CULTURE (10:20)

Daniel 1: 8
-Daniel would not defile himself with the king's meat
-The children of God are not to defile themselves by partaking of the things that feed this world
Psalm 100: 3
-We are the sheep of the Lords pasture; not the world's pasture

THE DECADENCE OF LEAVEN (13:15)
Galatians 5: 9
1 Corinthians 5: 6
-1 bad apple spoils the bunch
- Little by little sin and carnal satisfaction of this world decays the soul
- Leaven is quite literally a fermenting bacteria that alters bread and causes it to decay much faster
Mark 8: 15
-Leaven of false religion and of the world government and politics
Matthew 13: 33
-Likens the spread of the gospel to leaven that fills the earth in a positive manner

WHY APOSTOLICS ARE FIRM ON MODESTY PRINCIPLES (17:15)

1 Timothy 2: 9
-Men are not to be slaves to their passions and always arguing/debating in leadership
-Paul talks about modesty
Revelation 13
-Worship of beastial man and nature and mankind decaying to the nature of beasts
- The upright image of God is being rejected for the animalistic nature of the world
We as apostolics do not devour the programming and the meat of Hollywood, which is why we don’t watch Television

DECADENCE OF MODESTY AND MORALITY cont’d (31:10)

- Hollywood media normalized, little by little, sin and ungodliness over time spreading moral decadence in the world
-The Leavening happens little by little over a period of time:
1950s Elvis immodest dancing vs. 2021 Cardi B explicit songs and televised perverseness
-Music is just one clear indicator and example of cultural leaven in western society.
Hosea 8: 7
-They that sow in just a little leaven, will reap destruction beyond what they could imagine.

DEFYING THE LEAVEN (52:00)
2 Corinthians 6: 17
-Holiness is 100% effective
-Abstinence from sin and the pastures of the carnal nature AND the fullness of the Holy Ghost and the bread of God's word will keep you from defiling your temple
